Abstract
A comprehensive review of grain boundary structure is given concentrating on models which can be tested on the basis of experimental results from polycrystals. A survey is also given of recent experimental studies, centered upon the crystallographic aspects in terms of the grain misorientation texture. It is shown that there is a strong connection between properties and the geometrical character of a grain boundary. This connection is particularly important in determining mechanical propertiesKeywords
