Abstract
Four species ofCliona occur on both the Seaside and the Bayside of the Eastern Shore peninsula of Virginia:C. celata Grant,C. vastifica Hancock,C. lobata Hancock, andC. truitti Old.C. celata, the most abundant boring sponge in the high salinity bays of the Seaside, is the least abundant species in the lower salinities of Bayside creeks.C. truitti, rare on the Seaside, is the most abundant species in Bayside creeks and becomes more and more predominant as the salinity gets lower, going up the Chesapeake Bay shore. Keywords
