Abstract
An optical fibre sensor based on resonant coupling between a mode of a monomode optical fibre and a surface plasmon is reported. It is demonstrated that, by measuring the optical power transmitted through the sensing element, very small changes in the refractive index of the sensed medium can be determined. Keywords
