A holographic technique with computer aided analysis for the measurement of wear

Abstract
A technique is described which utilises the three dimensional information contained in photographs of contour fringed holographic images of surfaces to determine the volume change of a body due, for example, to wear. The contour fringes are produced on the holographic image of a surface by a dual index holographic contouring (DIHC). The contoured holographic image is photographed and the contour information recorded in digital form which is then analysed by computer.
