Abstract
This study describes the personality determinants that recurrently bring one patient to a Skid Row alcoholic state. The role of the "Skid Row bum" image as it operates in the personality of two nonalcoholic college students is also examined. From these descriptions the importance in general personality functioning of the "negative ego image" is adduced. It is suggested that given the demands and constraints of our culture upon its adult males, this image frequently takes the shape of the Skid Row derelect. Keywords
