Abstract
Lymnaea stagnalis accumulates lactate, succinate, alanine and acetate during anaerobiosis. After 15 hours about equal amounts of lactate, succinate and acetate were produced. Two unknown volatile compounds accumulate also in considerable amounts. There is some increase in the levels of alanine and propionate. The main end products succinate, lactate and acetate are both accumulated in the tissues and excreted in the water. All identified end products together account for about half the glycogen consumed during the same period. Keywords
