Abstract
The effect of metoclopramide hydrochloride (Primperan [France]; Sinemet, comparable US product) on postvagotomy symptoms was tested clinically in a blind crossover test on ten patients. Metoclopramide, carbachol, and a placebo were each administered for two weeks in a random sequence. Eight patients were relieved by metoclopramide, whereas one patient felt better on acetylcloline and one found the placebo to be the treatment of choice. Augmentation of gastric motility was confirmed by intragastric pressure measurements in all patients. Keywords
