Annellidic conidiogenesis in Pithoascus schumacheri and redefinition of Pithoascus and related fungi

Abstract
The presence of a Scopulariopsis Bainier anamorph in Pithoascus schumacheri (Hansen) von Arx is reported. Pithoascus langeronii von Arx is transfered to the monotypic new genus Pithoascina, on the basis of ascospore morphology and conidial state. The new combination Pithoascus stysanophorus (Matt.) Valmaseda, Martínez & Barrasa is also proposed. The relationship between the genera Pithoascus von Arx and Microascus Zukal is discussed.
