Abstract
Introduction The present paper deals with the experience of stapes mobilization in Europe. It is of course impossible to give a complete account of all the relevant work done by European otologists. As far as I know, the first clinic to follow the suggestion of Samuel Rosen was the Oto-Laryngological University Clinic in Helsinki. I therefore find it justified to use our personal experience as basis for this presentation, supplementing it with data communicated to me by some European colleagues. I have at my disposal a series which is probably one of the most extensive in Europe, consisting of 379 cases up to the end of the year 1956. It may be said at once that mobilization of the stapes in the beginning was not received here with equally great enthusiasm as in the United States. There has been a great deal of reservation which may be considered justified, butKeywords
