Reduction of crosstalk and losses of intersecting waveguide

Abstract

Experimental results of crosstalk and losses of intersecting Ti: LiNbO₃ waveguides are presented. To achieve lower losses and crosstalk the waveguides are tapered in the crossing area. While maintaining crosstalk of — 30 dB the 6° intersection angle of a conventional intersection can be reduced to 4° by using a 25 µm-wide taper.
