Abstract
An analysis is made of the contribution of the radial deformation and viscous effect to the effective area of piston-cylinder assemblies used as precision pressure generators. These effects are also examined using varied experimental techniques at 40, 80, 120 and 160 kPa for different piston-cylinder geometries and materials of construction. Significant correlation is obtained between the theoretical model and the experimental data.
