Photoionization Spectra of Pd in High Rydberg States

Abstract
A series of Rydberg states of Pd in quantum numbers n=16 to 39 produced by a three-step selective excitation process using three tunable dye lasers are measured by a photoionization technique. It is found that the least squares fitting of the Rydberg formula to the observed Rydberg series yields the quantum defect δ=0.000068 and ionization potential E i=67238.05 cm-1.
