Abstract
The first recorded occurrence of a leucite‐bearing rock type in Victoria is described. An analysis of a typical leucite crystal is presented. On the basis of petrographic and age similarities, the Cosgrove leucitite and the central New South Wales Ieucite‐lava belt are probably comagmatic. The occurrence suggests that Precambrian rocks of the Australian Shield underlie a large region of younger rocks of Western Victoria. Keywords
