Abstract
An experiment on the “psychological refractory period” was performed in which there was event certainty and high temporal certainty about S1. Delays in responding to S2 were less than predicted on an expectancy model or from the single‐channel hypothesis when I <RT1. A tentative explanation of the data is offered which does not conflict with the single‐channel hypothesis. Keywords
