Abstract
Summary.: The application of alkaline solutions to the tongue of the cats is followed by a continuous outburst of impulses in the chorda tympani nerve. The alkaline taste is the result of a general stimulation of several kinds of taste fibre endings. Experiments on few fibre preparations have shown that “water fibres”, “salt fibres” and to some extent also “quinine fibres” are stimulated by alkali. Keywords
