Abstract
Johnson and Roberts (1)‡ have recently shown how a simple adaptation of the conventional disc machine can be used to measure the viscoelastic properties of lubricants under conditions of elastohydrodynamic lubrication. The present paper contains a theoretical treatment of the problem and derives operating formulae pertinent to conditions of low, finite and high Deborah number. Keywords
