Abstract
After intravenously administering glycerol, the elimination from the blood was studied in 6 groups of infants full term newborns aged 1 day and 4 weeks, prematures aged 1 and 7 days and 4 weeks and hypotrophic newborns aged 1 day. On the first day the rate of elimination was highest in hypotrophic newborns. A slower elimination was found in full term normal infants. The highest elimination was measured in 4-week-old infants nearly as high as in adults. In all groups glycerol administration raised the blood glucose level. Keywords
