Abstract
Constrained Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov calculations have been performed to simulate the collision of two nuclei at low energies (≊5.5 MeV/nucleon). These ab initio calculations indicate that electromagnetic transitions of energies between 1.5 and 1.8 MeV can be expected in the center of mass system of the colliding nuclei. These calculations are also consistent with the observed laboratory energy dependence and Z dependence of the anomalous pair production.
