Abstract
The authors record 62 spp., of which 50 were residents. The average density in the Kongei valley was 3 birds per acre, but the actual density was very unequal. The grassland supported about 1 bird to 3 acres, the cultivated ground was very sparsely populated, and the bushland was densly populated. The most frequent spp. were Xanthophilus aureoflavus (29%), bulbuls (15%), colies (9%), Othyphantes reichenowi (6%), Fiscus collaris humeralis (6%). The 50 yrs. since the rain forest of the area was cleared is apparently insufficient for the establishment of a dry-country avifauna to replace the rain-forest species which have gone. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
