Self-Education as a Sociological Problem

Abstract
In the scholarly literature of this country, the problem of self-education has been examined traditionally from the angles of pedagogy and psychology without becoming the object of special sociological research. As Professor L. N. Kogan has written, "the basis on which the body of knowledge that is necessary for life has been acquired (not only for working in a particular profession) has always been, is now, and will continue to be self-education. In our country, unfortunately, sociology has not involved itself with this problem at all, considering it to be solely an object for psychology to study" [1].
