Abstract
When whole flies are subjected to anoxia ATP is broken down in the thorax and AMP and IMP accumulate. AMP is rapidly phosphorylated during recovery from anoxia but IMP remains unchanged for at least 2 hr. The return of normal motor activity in the fly parallels the resynthesis of arginine phosphate. The concentration of glycerol 1-phosphate returns to normal in two stages, the first being very rapid and the second slow. The orthophosphate concentration falls to below normal during recovery for 5 min. but by 20 min. is about normal.
