Communication Theory: An Indian Perspective

Abstract
There is an Indian perspective to communication but this can only be developed if researchers modify the Western models so long in use while they at the same time examine the experiences and experiments that are being conducted in Third World countries. Indian researchers should look inwards, study the social system, the way of life of rural India, where the bulk of the population lives if they wish to examine the existing communication patterns. A rich oral tradition exists and offers great scope for research.
