Seismic studies in the region adjacent to the Grand Banks of Newfoundland

Abstract
A detailed survey by Texas Instruments Incorporated under contract to the United States Naval Oceanographic Office in the vicinity of the Southeast Newfoundland Ridge suggests that this ridge is structurally controlled and related to the northern extent of the Jurassic Atlantic basin. Possible salt diapirs were found in the Sohm Abyssal Plain and lower continental rise. Evidence of formerly greater bottom current activity in the region is suggested by the presence of buried abyssal anti-dunes.
