Abstract
The effect of Daunomycin, a new antibiotic with antitumor activity, on the metabolism of nucleic acids of Ehrlich ascites tumor cells was studied with autoradiographic techniques. Daunomycin injected intraperitoneally at the dose of 4 mg/kg body weight did not affect the uptake of tritiated thymidine, although the mitotic index of the tumor cells was decreased. The nuclear RNA synthesis, particularly the RNA fraction which is synthetised on the chromosomes, was partially inhibited. Keywords
