Abstract
Equations are obtained for the plate height of preparative-scale columns using the generalized nonequilibrium theory. The theory is formulated in very broad terms which permit the correlation of plate height, not only with the usual nonuniform flow characteristics, but also with cross-sectional variations in liquid loading, lateral diffusivity and column porosity. Specific and practical equations are derived which will yield the plate height in terms of any complex combination of flow velocity and liquid load nonuniformities. Keywords
