Abstract
We have attempted to reduce the weight of our original electret motor by using, as the substrate of the rotor, a plastic disk instead of an aluminum disk. The theoretical calculations show that the torque exerted on the plastic rotor is less than that on an aluminum rotor and approaches that exerted on the aluminum rotor with the decrease in thickness of the plastic rotor; however the torque per unit weight of the acrylic rotor is greater than that of the aluminum one. This type of electret motor has been fabricated. An experimental torque near the theoretical torque has been obtained. Keywords
