Abstract
A review and analysis of the papers presented at the 1948 Paris symposium, Unites Biologiques Douees de Con-tinuite Genetique. Colloques Internationeaux du Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Paris, Juin-Juillet, 1948, Vol. VIII. Paris Ve: Publications du C.N.R.S., 1949. In this symposium the field of cytoplasmic heredity was well covered in papers by such authorities as Darlington, Sonneborn, Beale, Delbruck, Lwoff, Monod, and others. The concept of gene-initiated plasmagene received little support.Keywords
