Abstract
The International Council of Nurses (ICN) chooses a theme each year to heighten awareness of an issue facing nurses working all over the world, and uses International Nurses Day, 12 May, to focus attention on the plight of patients’ suffering. This year's theme is Fighting AIDS stigma: caring for all. This article looks at the current situation with regards to HIV/AIDS and how it affects the public, patients and healthcare staff.Keywords
