Abstract
Evidence of intestinal absorption of folic acid within 6 hrs. of ingestion measured as an increase in serum levels detd. microbiologically was found in all subjects tested after a 2-mg. dose, in 6 of 11 normal subjects and 6 of 9 patients with pernicious anemia after 1 mg. and in none of the normal subjects tested after 0.5 mg. No defect in absorption of folic acid in pernicious anemia was demonstrated but evidence is discussed for differences in the rate of removal of free folic acid from the serum. Keywords
