Abstract

This summary of a theory of respiratory control reviews experiments upon which the theory is based. The absence of a direct relation between blood Ph and pulmonary ventilation is stressed and arguments supporting a direct relation between acidity of the respiratory center and pulmonary ventilation are presented. Other influencing factors are suggested.
