Abstract
Many-body perturbation theory is used to calculate the correction to the nuclear quadrupole crystal field screening parameter gamma infinity in Pr3+, which arises because excited states are not eigenstates of the Hartree-Fock potential. This correction increases the magnitude of the previously calculated value of gamma infinity by more than 100%.Keywords
