Abstract
Numerous epidemiologic studies have evaluated several inflammatory markers, including C-reactive protein, various cytokines, adhesion molecules, and white blood cell (WBC) count for their clinical usefulness in predicting risk of cardiovascular disease.1-5 Recent investigations have suggested that myeloperoxidase (MPO), an abundant enzyme secreted from activated neutrophils, monocytes, and certain tissue macrophages (such as in atherosclerotic plaques), may be involved in the development of coronary artery disease (CAD).Keywords
