Abstract
Deformed lunar ring-structures are compared with clay models carrying circular forms that are subjected to various types of stress. It is concluded that the ellipticities of the rings in the Vaporum region of the Moon were imposed not through elementary lateral squeezing but, principally, through right-handed multiple shearing movements. The results find confirmation in the direct observation of offsets. Keywords
