Abstract
Ferguson and Hudes1,2 have observed two red-degraded emission band spectra attributed to the free-radical antimony monochloride (SbCl) in the region λ λ4200-5600 by introducing SbCl3 vapour into a stream of active nitrogen. No other bands appeared in the range λ2000 to λ7000. We have observed in absorption a group of diffuse violet-degraded bands near 2320Å following the isothermal flash photolysis of SbCl3 which we attribute to a new system of SbCl (C←X).Keywords
