Hibernation in Mesocricetus auratus

Abstract
As a check on laboratory conditions designed primarily for a study of the hibernation of Tamias striatus, hamsters were exposed to cold. Although the hibernation of hamsters has been discussed by Lyman (Jour. Exp. Zool., 109: 55, 1948; Jour. Mamm., 35: 545, 1954), Chatfield and Lyman (Amer. Jour. Physiol., 163: 566, 1950), Kayser (Année Biol., 29: 109, 1953) and others, the present complementary observations merit brief mention.
