Abstract
Detailed calculations are described of the cross sections and rate coefficients at thermal energies for the charge transfer of O2+ (3P) ions in helium and upper limits are obtained to the rate coefficients of the metastable O2+ (1D) and O2+(1S) ions. At 1000 K, the rate coefficient for the ground state ion is 3.1×10−11 cm3 s−1 and for the metastable ions less than 10−15cm3 s−1. Charge transfer of O2+(3P) in helium occurs preferentially into the metastable O+1(2P) ion. Keywords
