Transversely excited Sr+ recombination laser

Abstract
Operation of a strontium‐ion recombination laser in a transverse‐discharge configuration is reported. Laser oscillation occurred on the 431‐nm transition of Sr+ over a range of discharge parameters, including He gas pressure up to 200 kPa (1500 Torr). Output energy densities of 25 μJ/cm3 have obtained from an active volume of approximately 40 cm3.Keywords
