Abstract
From the kinetics of formation of isopropyl iodide produced by irradiation of C3H8+I2 mixtures with visible light, it was concluded that reaction is due to H atom abstraction by I(52P½). Excited atoms were produced at wavelengths above the 4995 Å threshold, due to collisional release, viz. I* 2+M →I M+I*. Similar efficiencies for release were found in CO2, N2, Ar, C3H8 and H2.Keywords
