Abstract
A new pogonophore, Oligobrachia kernohanae, from New Zealand Continental Slope waters is described. Typically it has 4–5 tentacles with pinnules. Length of forepart of the body usually between four and five times the diameter of specimens fixed unanaesthetised. Body diameter 0.3 to 0.6 mm. A cingulum is neatly defined behind the bridles. Anterior to these, the forepart usually shows two or three circular grooves. Papillae at the anterior end of the trunk are only slightly raised, lack cuticular plaques and are irregularly arranged. The tube, typically between 0.6 and 0.7 mm in diameter, is clear and flexible anteriorly, tan-coloured and ringed further back, whitish and ringed more posteriorly. Spermatophores are slender, with slight wings. Keywords
