Abstract

Inelastic electron scattering confirms broadening of the isoscalar (ΔT=0) E2 giant resonance in ¹⁶⁵Ho as compared to spherical nuclei. Discrepancies in magnitude between results of other experiments are reconciled. The isovector (ΔT=1) E2 giant resonance is, for the first time, observed to be split into at least two parts
