The Occurrence of Ornithodiplostomum ptychocheilus (Faust) (Trematoda: Strigeida) in Fish and Birds

Abstract
The metacercaria of Ornithodiplostomum ptychocheilus is reported from the mesenteries of 4 new fish hosts in N. Dakota - Notropis cornutus frontalis, Notropis d. dorsalis, Pimephales p. promelas. and Semotilus a. atromaculatus. It is also reported from a new location[long dash]the extra-dural space of the cranial cavity of N. c. frontalis. The metacercariae were reared to egg producing adults in unfed chicks. The body constriction of this strigeid was reduced but evident when alive and following hot fixation.
