Abstract
A prospective survey of 738 children with high risk factors was carried out in the north-east of Scotland. High risk factors used in previous surveys were reviewed and considered inadequate. New and stringent standards are described. Results are compared with the national incidence of sensori-neural deafness and with other surveys. Keywords
