Abstract
The emission spectrum of AlI generated by a CO2 laser pulse from an alumina surface in air has been studied with Kodak SWR plates. In addition to the 4p, 5p, and 4f forbidden transitions previously observed, forbidden lines from 6, 7, 8p and from 5, 6, 7f states to the 3p ground state are identified. Photoelectric measurements yield information concerning the plasma relaxation time. In the present experiments, Al and AlO are found to last for 150 and 500 μsec, respectively, after the start of the 25 μsec pulse. Keywords
