Abstract
The several equations of motion governing the dynamic stability of a parachute-load system, in which the parachute as well as the load possesses aerodynamic drag and stability characteristics, are established. The general equations are linearized, which process provides satisfactory results for relatively small deflections. A further simplification is accomplished under the assumption of a vertical descent. A numerical example is used to illustrate the application of the analytical methods. The several equations of motion governing the dynamic stability of a parachute-load system, in which the parachute as well as the load possesses aerodynamic drag and stability characteristics, are established.
