Abstract
The propagation of electromagnetic waves in a cylindrical waveguide with an impedance-boundary condition is discussed. It is pointed out that the coupling between modes of different order is an intrinsic aspect of noncircular cross-sections. Only in special limiting cases does this coupling become negligible.Keywords
