Abstract
Mannitol content of 35 samples of marine brown algae consisting of 11 genera representing 15 spp. [Dictyota bartaynesiana, Dictyopteris australis, Iyengaria stellata, Levringia borgesenii, Padina tetrastromatica, Sargassum cinctum, S. swartzii, S. tenerrimum, S. vulgare, Spathoglossum asperum, S. variabile, Stoechospermum marginatum, Cystophyllum sp., Cystoseira indica and Hydroclathrus clathratus] from the coast of Saurashtra [India] was determined. Variations in mannitol content were observed among different genera of the seaweeds. The same species collected from different locations and at different periods also showed considerable variations. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
