Abstract
The conquest of diabetic coma is in sight. During 1929 and 1930 in Stettin, Germany, with a population of 270,000, there was not a single death from diabetic coma.1 Boston cannot make so good a showing, but the following letter from the health commissioner of the city speaks for itself: March 31, 1936. My dear Dr. Joslin: I am happy to report to you that in the City of Boston during 1935 there was not a death from any cause whatsoever in a diabetic under nineteen years of age. During this twelve month period there were in all 288 deaths classified as diabetes and I understand including those with diabetes as a secondary cause 301 deaths.
