Abstract
ESR and infrared spectra of [Cr(CN)5NO]3— in dilute solid solution in various alkali halide lattices have been obtained, including ESR data as a function of crystal orientation. The anisotropic and isotropic hyperfine couplings to 14N, 13C, and 53Cr have been computed from the ESR data and values of g∥ and g⊥ are reported. The results have been interpreted, as far as possible, in terms of current molecular orbital theories of bonding in the complex ions of transition metal elements. Keywords
