Abstract
Simultaneous inoculation with Br =ucella ovis bacterin plus B. abortus strain 19 produced the greatest immunity. This procedure was not permitted as widespread use of B. abortus in sheep might pose a hazard to the brucellosis eradication program in cattle. Subsequent work demonstrated than an aluminum hydroxide adsorbed bacterin, administered as 2 injections spaced 3-6 wk apart, conferred a significant and acceptable level of immunity.
