MULTIVARIATE CATASTROPHE MODEL ESTIMATION: METHOD AND APPLICATION.

Abstract
Leading management scholars have called for the use of nonstandard research to help solve complex problems that are not tractable with standard approaches. This article demonstrates the use of multivariate catastrophe model estimation as a partial answer to that call. The approach makes catastrophe theory more useful for researching certain problematic phenomena, Furthermore, it prevents problems with the difference-regression technique used in the past. We use a small application taken from the organization theory literature to demonstrate how the method works and compare the results from this analysis to those from a LISREL analysis of the same data.
